Make it harder to bypass alarm by power cycling#81

?

I loved that I could not bypass the alarms on there older version by just resetting my phone. On the newer version I find myself just resetting my phone instead of going through a task

My unconscious Lizard Brain can reset my phone. In essence, I’ve learned to shut your alarm off without waking up.

Power Off instead of going through the task is major drawback of your application that is why I can not be able to use this application. You have good idea of tasks to wake up which is not available in ‘Alarmy’. But in Alarmy no one can power off smart phone while doing task. So you should definitely use this concept so that you can be best alarm clock in world and we can use only it

@Raj Kumar Thank you pointing out Alarmy as example of an app preventing users from quitting alarms. I want to add this feature in the I Can’t Wake Up with the last update, but I had problems making it work on all Android versions.

I planned to add Quit Block based on the old app with the 4.1.1 update, however it turned to not work anymore due to changes in the way app works and the changes in Android 10 (sometimes leading to phone getting blocked completely).
I was trying different approaches, but none of them worked on every of my test devices. And as preventing the user from leaving an app is not a regular feature (actually more like a hack, since Android doesn’t want the apps to be able to do it), there no much documentation on the matter and it’s more or less a try and error approach.

Anyway, I will continue working on it. If you want to help with it, you can:

  • let me know, if you find such feature in any other app, besd. It might direct me in the right direction. (@Raj Kumar - I was able to quit Alarmy quite easily unfortunately)
  • contact me, if you want to take part in testing of the different approaches, to find the one working on all devices/system versions.
